OFFSHORE FISHING
Mobile Bay Offshore Fishing
Mobile Bay Adventures offshore fishing charters begin in waters beyond 9 miles of the Alabama shoreline and extend out 40 miles for some action-packed fun. No matter the time of year, we can always find something biting! Our offshore trips include trolling for King Mackerel, Wahoo and Mahi-Mahi and bottom fishing for Grouper, Snapper, Amberjack and Cobia. Offshore trips are full-day trips and can cover in excess of 100 miles roundtrip in open water.
We launch from Fort Morgan or Dauphin Island at the southern end of Mobile Bay or Weeks Bay Launch in Fairhope, or, if you are a guest at the Marriot’s Grand Hotel in Point Clear, we will pick you up at their fuel dock.
Offshore trips can be customized to the Species you want to catch. Our standard offshore trip includes exposure to a variety of offshore fishing techniques. We leave out at daybreak and stop in route to the Gulf to catch “live” bait around the marinas and docks using either cast net or Sabiki Rigs. We then run in open water about 12 miles to large tankers anchored offshore waiting to come in to the Port of Mobile. Here we will spend an hour or so fishing for Cobia by drifting “live” bait under these large vessels. We then turn south and run to various bottom structure holding reef fish. Our last leg, we turn back north looking for a grass or tide line and use outriggers to disperse multiple lines trolling for King Mackerel, Wahoo and Mahi-Mahi.
At the end of the day, gear is secured, and marine beanbags are set out for you to enjoy a comfortable cruise back to the launch. Cold beverages and good tunes are usually part of the celebration so bring your smartphone with your favorite tunes and you might find yourself playing DJ for the trip back. Upon arrival, your guide will offload the fish, take some group photos, then clean and bag the catch for you to take home.
